Peter Wright was born in 1941. He graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Florida in 1964 and a Master of Fine Arts in Furniture Design and Woodworking from the School for American Crafts at Rochester Institute of Technology, New York, seven years later. Since that date, he lives with his wife Kate, a painter, in rural northern Wisconsin where he continues as a self employed furniture maker.

"There are several diverse influences that I see apparent in my work. I am a designer by formal training and this problem solving approach is how most of my pieces begin. Function inspires me but the construction process and the wood itself, together with a special interest in landscape and topographic imagery, together contribute to the final form; contemporary design using traditional techniques that emphasize hand-cut joinery, surface development and sculptural form.
